Getting Around the East Coast in Australia

Australia has six states and two territories, which are all quite big, 32 times the UK. For example, cattle stations in Western Australia are the size of some European countries!

Be ready to air, car, train or bus for hours and hours on the road! Do not despair if Australia is one of the most breathtaking landscapes on the planet.

Arriving by plane
The east coast of Australia is served by four major airlines: Qantas, Jetstar and VirginBlue Tiger Airways and newcomer. Qantas is the largest airline and the rest is what you call budget carriers. After using three of four (have not used Tiger) I can personally say that are comfortable and all have rates much, depending on the specialty course (check out his site!).
As a rough guide here are some air travel between the major centers of Australia's east coast:

Sydney to Brisbane 1.5 hours
Sydney to Melbourne, only about oneNow
Melbourne to Brisbane: 3 hours
Gold Coast to Sydney: 1-2 hours
Sydney to Cairns: 2.5-3 hours
Brisbane to Cairns just over 2 hours
Sydney to Gold Coast: 3 hours
Melbourne to Gold Coast: 2.25 hours
Brisbane, the Gold Coast: Do not worry, just drive
Sydney to Canberra: 45 minutes

Arriving by car
Remember, as I said earlier Australia is a huge country, so the choice when you travel by car then we expect long journeys. PleaseMake sure you stop to rest and return after 3-4 hours driving to avoid accidents. Also beware of kangaroos and wallabies on the road, can cause a variety of vehicle damage. If you rent a car, and Toyota will be on the road a lot then as reliable car as stable as Holden (Australian company), and Ford. A 4-cylinder car is only as good as a 6-cylinder in those days and cheaper fuel. The 6-cylinder Holden Commodore has been around a long time and isBuilt for Australian conditions, but most car manufacturers are producing quality cars in those days.

Make sure you keep plenty of water with you in hopes that your car is broken off.

If on a budget to consider a Wicked van or Britz, which can be also be used as accommodation. Just do your security checks on the car to ensure they are safe, such as tires, oil, lamps, etc. Here is a rough guide to driving times between major centers:

Sydney to Brisbane: 9Time
Sydney to Melbourne: 12 hours
Melbourne to Brisbane: 20 hours
Gold Coast to Sydney: 11 hours
Sydney to Cairns: fly 40 hours (best!)
Brisbane to Cairns: 22 hours
Sydney to Gold Coast: 11 hours
Melbourne to Gold Coast: 23 hours
Brisbane, the Gold Coast: 1 hour
Sydney to Canberra: 4 hours

Arriving by bus
I made many trips by bus and I find it relaxing. modern bus (as we call them) are very comfortable and secure. WithFlights, travel by bus these days work more expensive than flying, but again each objective is provided by the airlines. When you return to the main regional centers such as Toowoomba in Queensland or New South Wales in Armidale, a country or city to then take the bus might be the best way to go. The bus company's most important in Australia: Greyhound, and have a variety of packages to suit your travel plans. They also have links with Backpacker Hostel Manufacturer: YHAand nomads. Check their website for more information. Tip: The most websites end in.com.au Australia

Arriving by train
All Australian capital cities have a rail network that handles most very efficiently. Although not the standard London Underground trains I've lived in all major cities except Perth and are safe, inexpensive, and I mean funny journey through. A tip when most of the cities expect that you are using the travel card instead of cash eg in South-EastQueensland now with gocard. Well, if you travel long distances by train, then so be it. Here are the main routes and providers of long distance travel in Australia:

Sydney - Adelaide - Perth (The Indian Pacific)
Adelaide Alice Springs - - Darwin (The Ghan)
Melbourne - Adelaide (The Overland)
Sydney - Melbourne (country links)
Sydney - Canberra (Link Country)
Sydney - Brisbane (country links)
Brisbane - Townsville - Cairns (QueenslandRail)
Rockhampton-Longreach and Cairns lines Forsayth
Kalgoorlie - Perth (Transwa)

This is a summary of the options you have, always along the Australian coast. My advice would be to link all, learn the experience of landscape, but not break the budget at the same time.
